RapidDoc is a powerful developer and end-user tool that was created to assist in the most monotonous of all software project tasks - the creation of project documentation. Developed using Microsoft Visual Foxpro, RapidDoc was originally created with Foxpro developers in mind. By combining the strengths of the Foxpro database engine with the flexibility of the Microsoft Word object model, RapidDoc extracts and formats data about a project and/or its components from applicable tables. This information is then used to quickly create professional looking Word documents that are ready for delivery to clients or for use in a code review. The finished document includes a hyperlinked Table of Contents that provides a way to easily navigate the largest of project documents. Rather than spending hours creating required documentation, a developer simply needs to ensure that comments about each object are entered when the objects are created and leave the tough stuff to RapidDoc! As each object is documented, RapidDoc will format a list of the applicable methods and properties along with the comments related to each property/method. When the optional Method Code option is selected, the method code for each object will also be included in the document. Using RapidDoc, it is possible to create literally hundreds of pages of documentation in just minutes!  

Now With ODBC Database Support!* The 2.1 release of RapidDoc supports the creation of data dictionaries from ODBC data sources. By selecting a Data Source Name (DSN) and providing a valid username and password, users are now able to generate data dictionary documents in Microsoft Word format. The search capability allows for the contents of the document to be limited to only the portions of a database that are desired. In addition to a hyperlinked Table of Contents, each data dictionary formats the following information about the database objects that are selected:

• fields names
• data types and lengths
• default values
• indexes
• primary keys
• check constraints
• unique constraints
• foreign key values
• full text of triggers
• remarks/comments (if applicable)
