Name change: The main file name for the software has changed from pcapp98.exe to
appstd60.exe. This change was made to allow users to maintain prior versions of the software during upgrade evaluations. The software still installs to the same default directory (pcapp98) to ease the configuration issues for our non-technical users. Version 6.0 has reduced the number of software application files that are used Now, there are only five files installed in the default directory (as opposed to the 20+ in prior versions). Over 150 report templates are installed in a subfolder to support printing the applications.
Relocation of Database Files: In past versions of the software, you were allowed to create the initial database anywhere you wanted. As a result, many users created the database in the default installation folder where the software resides. Although there is nothing wrong with this, it does complicate the process of easily performing database backups. For this reason, if the
database is located in the software folder, AppStandard will automatically create a data sub-folder and relocate all database files to this directory. With version 6.0, you are no longer able to create the
initial database in the default software folder.
Database Maintenance Prompt: Some users have been saying "No" to database maintenance for years now. Many, because they don't understand the purpose of the process. These users should ensure that they read the section in the
new Help file entitled Database Maintenance. If, after reading that section, you still do not want to perform database maintenance, you now have the option of hitting "Cancel". If you hit "Cancel" in response to the 30 day prompt, you will not be prompted again for another 30 days.
Current Build Information: As the software begins to grow again, we will be releasing additional features in future builds. You now have the ability to determine if your copy of the software is the most recent by checking the FoxWiz Solutions website for the current build number and comparing your registration number to what is reported there. In this way, you can be assured that you have the most up-to-date version of the software and any upgraded features or fixes that have been released.
Softer "Look & Feel": We've moved away from the battleship gray to a smoother interface to make the software more
visually appealing.
Print Preview Windows: In the past, the window for Print Previews was not completely maximized when the preview option was used. This has been changed. Now, each report page should show in a full page window when it is open. Keep in mind that the Print Preview option allows you to review a page before you print it. If you decide you want to print it, use the Printer icon on the preview toolbar.
Confirmation of Record Deletions: In the past, no confirmation was required when an entry was deleted from a Physician record. Because this information cannot be retrieved, you will now be prompted to confirm a deletion before it actually happens.
Removal of Template Orphans: In the past, when an entry was removed from a Template (e.g. an office), the Physician records that were based on the template still reported that their entry was "based on a template record." This is no longer the case. Now, when the Template entry is removed, the entry for each Physician record is shown to be related only to the Physician.
Enhanced toolbar usage: The icons on the toolbar have been enhanced/fixed to allow the opening and adding of new records without having to use the right-mouse menu.
